The name "Flegga" draws its origin from the mountain top Flegga, situated in the heart of the National Reserve of picturesque Valia Calda in south Pindos mountain range.
This land of virgin wild forests and pastures untainted by human intervention, from early spring to late autumn, is the pastureland of flocks of sheep and goats in order to produce their milk rich in nutritive ingredients, from wich the high quality Flegga products come from.
The Laitsos family, with a long-standing tradition in cheese production - the origin lingering in depths of centuries - has recently updated their dairy facilities and infrastructure in the village of Velestino, to be set as model in the dairy industry field.
There, in the traditional natural 'habitat', are produced the Greek cheeses of Flegga, with Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.)
